An Easy Guide To Meditation

A lot of people today really struggle with juggling work and personal life. Mindfulness meditation encourages the practitioner to observe wandering thoughts as they drift through the mind. Mindfulness can occur anywhere by simply being mindful of the present moment. You'll also want to practice at the same time every day. Back when I first started meditating, I gave up on my practice for months because I felt like I couldn't stop my mind wandering.

Better focus leads to better performance, higher creativity, reduced stress, and presence: the ability to be fully immersed in a situation. Try bringing your awareness to the physical sensation what stress feels like in your body, where do you feel it, how does your body tell you that it's stressed rather than pushing stress away.

If the word ‘meditation' is not appropriate - for example, an elderly person may not understand it or have a misconception about it - simply introduce what you are doing as a ‘guided relaxation'. So the next time your child needs a little boost in focus and clarity, look no further than a simple meditation to function with lazer focus more effectively.

Start with 2 minute meditations. This is great when your mind is chatty - the teacher's voice reminds you to bring your attention back to the meditation - but if you've found a quieter state of mind, it can be really intrusive. A lot of times meditation is talked about by how long you can do it in one sitting.

We recommend setting a timer if you're not going to use a guided meditation like we suggested earlier. Please avoid a special meditation voice.” Sometimes when listening to guided meditations the voices might be very soft, even hypnotic or singsong. It can be a challenge to sit quietly and focus on your breath in a world that is dependent on multi-tasking and filled with constant noise from traffic, music and phone conversations.

Instead of training the art of meditation your attention on the breath, as is the case in basic mindfulness meditation, the body scan involves systematically focusing on different sensations and areas, from the head to the toes. I'm sharing more meditation tips below to get started, and remember to join me in your Studio Tone It Up app for guided meditations anytime in the On Demand section.

For those of you that have trouble with sitting meditations, the moving meditations are wonderful. This is again why we strongly suggest guided meditations for newcomers, since it provides a reminder when the mind wanders. This app also brings mindful breathing to the forefront followed by a thinking process to make you feel more at peace.
